The research team also reviewed over 2,000 of Analyst Briefings submitted by applicants.

What challenge or need does this innovation solve?
<blockquote>
For decades, people have wanted the ability to see all their finances in one place online. This process, known as financial account aggregation, started in the mid-1990s. The bulk of external financial account connections today occur via screen-scraping or the process of gathering financial data from one app by inputting user credentials (such as username and password) and displaying that data in another app. However, the process of screen scraping also carries a range of shortcomings, especially when the connections aren&rsquo;t whitelisted. Screen-scraped connections intermittently break, and they carry an element of risk as consumers share their credentials, which potentially increases risk across the ecosystem, compromises privacy, and poses security threats for fintech companies, financial institutions, and consumers alike.&nbsp;

LEHI, Utah &mdash; March 30, 2022 &mdash; For the fourth year in a row, MX was named to the <a title="" href="https://www.womentechcouncil.com/shatter-list/" target="_self">Women Tech Council 2022 Shatter List, </a>the only list that names the technology and innovation companies with active programs that are leading and accelerating progress towards breaking the glass ceiling for women in technology.
Each of the companies on the 2022 list was chosen based on their development and successful implementation of measures that create gender-inclusive cultures where women can contribute and succeed from entry-level positions to executive leadership.

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Mega-rounds: Since 2020, there have been 178 mega-round ($100M+) equity investments to this year&rsquo;s Fintech 250, with 138 of them in 2021 YTD</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Global representation: 36% of the 2021 Fintech 250 are based outside the US. After the US, the UK is home to the most Fintech 250 companies (25), followed by India (12). This year&rsquo;s winners are based in 26 countries, including France, Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, and Nigeria.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Top VC investor: Ribbit Capital is the most active investor in this year&rsquo;s Fintech 250 companies, having invested in 62 deals since 2016. 'You&rsquo;re going to be annoyed, but I have to say culture again.&rdquo;
Ain&rsquo;t nobody got time for mediocre.
&ldquo;People aren&rsquo;t a crucial part of a company,&rdquo; Caldwell says. &ldquo;They&rsquo;re&nbsp;everything.&rdquo;
And he would know. When MX (then MoneyDesktop) started in 2010, the wrong people were in the right roles.
&ldquo;That first year was intense,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;Since I didn&rsquo;t have a good team around me, we were literally stuck in neutral.&rdquo;
Enter the hard conversations.
&ldquo;We have a culture of candor,&rdquo; Caldwell says. &ldquo;Good people want that kind of frankness. The wrong people are repelled by it.&rdquo;
With the right team moved into place &mdash; including Brandon Dewitt and Dave Jaynes &mdash; the company switched from neutral to overdrive.&nbsp; &nbsp;
&ldquo;There are two types of startups &mdash; rocketships and ocean vessels. Ocean vessels drift. It may take them decades to achieve anything of significance, and that&rsquo;s just fine,&rdquo; Caldwell says. &ldquo;Rockets are the opposite. They go a high distance in a short amount of time. They&rsquo;re risky. If you launch a rocket and realize you forgot something, you can&rsquo;t go back. And just to get the rocket moving, you need to burn a tremendous amount of fuel. MX is a rocketship.&rdquo;

This sentiment is even higher among Gen Z at nearly half (45%). In addition, 54% of consumers said it was likely they would seek a new financial provider if their current provider couldn&rsquo;t deliver on their most wanted features.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Consumers want &mdash; and need &mdash; more personalized and proactive data-driven insights to help manage their finances and achieve better financial outcomes,&rdquo; says Crystal Anderson, Vice President of Product at MX. &ldquo;In today&rsquo;s economic environment, consumers want a trusted partner that can do more than just provide account balances. Financial institutions and fintechs have an opportunity to take a bigger role in the lives of consumers.&rdquo;
Key findings from the report include:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Consumer expectations and money worries are higher than ever: Twenty-two percent of consumers are most worried about just paying for everyday necessities, while 33% are most worried about paying for unexpected expenses or emergencies.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">A need for financial education: Thirty-nine percent of consumers believe financial providers have a responsibility to teach them to be financially strong. Among Gen Z and Millennials, this jumps to 58% and 56%, respectively.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Automated options and insights as a differentiator: When asked what features consumers most want for financial wellness, those that rose to the top most often included automated options to manage money and solutions that deliver proactive, predictive, or automated insights.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Defining data ownership: Consumers overwhelmingly agree (89%) that they own their financial data and should be able to control who has access to it. While this is the case, 55% of consumers also agree that they are not sure what companies or providers have access to their financial data.&nbsp;</li>
