The MX Journey: Data into Action

MX CEO Ryan Caldwell, and MX product leaders share where MX is heading — and how financial institutions can ultimately turn data into action.

Transcript

I wanted them to just keep playing that music.

It's so good after the break. Um, good morning.

It's so good to be with you all this morning.

We've heard some incredible insights so far, haven't we?

We have. Well, before we get started

and dive into what's next,

I want to ground us again in why we're here. At MX,

0ur mission is to empower the world

to be financially strong.

Because when someone feels confident

and in control of their finances,

their whole life is better.

And you're the ones making that happen every day.

You're helping someone deposit their first paycheck,

refinance a loan, start planning for retirement.

You are showing up in the moments that matter.

So how do we at MX help you do more of that

with more clarity, speed, and scale.

It comes down to one thing: Data into action.

We help you connect all of your data,

analyze what's happening, engage

at the right time, in the right moment, in the right place,

and act in ways that drive real results.

That's our focus. It's not just about delivering the

insights, but it's about giving you the ability

to take action on those insights

to drive real measurable growth.

Growth in deposits, growth in loans, and interchange revenue

and growth in engagement, financial wellness,

and ultimately long-term trust.

That's exactly what it's all about.

Turning those ideas into action.

I'm excited to welcome Nico Brown

and Billy Gast to the stage.

Nico is a manager of product at MX, I'm sorry,

product marketing at MX.

Um, she partners closely with our product

and sales team to shape how we position our platform

and bring our products to market.

Billy is a senior director of product management.

He leads our team behind the MX mobile

and experience products.

He's passionate about solving real problems

and building tools that people love to use.

Together they're gonna show you

what data into action looks like

and how we're helping support you

as your partner, delivering those moments

that matter to your customers.

Welcome, Nico and Billy.

Thank you, Crystal. We're so excited to be

here.

Now we want to show you

what data into action really looks like

in the lives of real people.

You'll meet three individuals, Dani, Leo, and Monica.

Each navigating big financial moments — a first paycheck,

a cross country move, preparing

for retirement while caring for a parent.

Then we'll take you behind the scenes to meet Taylor.

She's a marketing analyst at a bank

and she's the one connecting the dots,

using MX to spot opportunities, act on insight

and turn those life moments into real results.

Let's dive in.

Let's meet Dani. She's 23

and just landed her first full-time job.

She's excited, but overwhelmed.

Rent, loan, bills… it's a lot

and she's figuring it out on her own.

Behind the scenes, her bank sees something important.

Dani's paycheck is going into a Cash App account.

With MX, they can spot that right away

and identify customers like Dani,

who are early in their financial journey

and looking for support.

She opens her app and sees a message.

“Manage your finances in one place, move your direct deposits

and stay in control with tools that help you plan ahead.”

This message isn't random.

It's built on real data

and it's delivered inside the latest

MX mobile banking experience —

a smarter, more connected way

to help people take action when it really matters most.

Whether you use the full MX app

or embedded just the features you need into your existing

app, you can create powerful, personalized experiences

that drive real results.

As Dani moves her direct deposit, she unlocks tools

that actually help her, like budgeting, spending insights,

and cashflow tracking.

Now her money's in one place. She feels more in control,

and her bank just became her new financial home.

Now meet Leo.

He just moved across the country for a new job. New city,

new rent, and a fresh start.

His paycheck is consistent, his rent is high,

and he's doing what so many people do in this stage of life,

figuring it out as he goes.

But his credit union sees the opportunity with enhanced data

and smart analytics.

They detect the shift, a new zip code,

new recurring payments, and a stable income.

That's not just data. It's a chance to build trust.

Leo sees a message: “Ready to build what's next?

Let's start with tools that help you save for a future home.”

Whether it's automating savings

or exploring home buyer tools, the goal is the same —

make it easy for Leo to take the next step,

and it's all supported by MX, either

inside the full mobile experience

or embedded directly in the credit union's own app.

The result? Leo starts saving.

He feels seen, he feels supported,

and he's now building towards his next milestone

with his credit union right by his side.

Now meet Monica. She's in her mid fifties

and retirement is starting to feel real,

but that's not the only thing on her mind.

She's also taking care of her aging mom, paying bills,

sorting prescriptions, trying to prepare for the unexpected.

It's a lot to juggle.

Her bank notices the shift, more medical expenses,

frequent cash withdrawals,

and changes in how she's spending.

That pattern is enough to trigger an insight

and Monica gets added to a new audience automatically

when she logs into her mobile app.

She sees a message when she's reviewing her transactions:

“Managing more than just your own finances?

Let us help you organize it all

and plan ahead with confidence.”

She taps in, connects her external accounts —

her mom's pharmacy card, her own retirement portfolio

and finally gets a full picture.

Then a follow-up message invites her

to a retirement planning webinar, a natural step

that fits her needs.

And just like that, she feels more in control.

She's less overwhelmed

and she trusts her bank to be there, not just

for her finances, but for her life.

Across every story we've shared, the pattern is clear.

Spot the moment. Understand what it means.

Take action that moves the relationship forward.

This is what we mean by data into action.

Growth doesn't start with products, it starts with people.

And when you can see what is changing in someone's life,

you can show up with relevance,

with care, with confidence.

That's why we built the MX platform

to power your experience, your brand, your growth engine

so you can act and not just react

and move from transactions to deeper relationships.

And behind every one of those relationships,

there's someone at the institution making it all happen.

Let's dive into their story.

So let's meet Taylor. She's a marketing analyst at a

mid-size regional bank.

Her job is to find opportunities in the data

and turn them into real results.

Recently she launched a direct deposit campaign

for new earners customers like Dani, and it worked.

Deposits went up and engagement grew.

But Taylor didn't stop there.

She noticed something in the data.

Many of those new customers had high balance savings

accounts at other institutions earning lower rates than

what her bank could offer.

So she built a new audience, crafted a timely offer,

and launched it in the bank's mobile app.

That one message? It's not guesswork, it's precision powered

by consumer permission to data.

Because with MX, Taylor isn't just working off

raw transaction data.

She has access to a complete view of held accounts,

aggregated accounts, spending behavior all in one place,

and that opens up powerful possibilities.

Credit card balances climbing?

Offer a debt consolidation loan. Bill payments going out

by ACH? Suggest switching to a card.

Deposits slowly declining? Step in

before the relationship fades.

She can even spot major life moments, not

because someone told the bank, but

because the data told her first.

A name change?

Offer a joint account. A shift from tuition to moving costs?

Help a grad get started. A new insurance payment?

Support them after buying a car.

This is what can happen when your team has a complete

connected view of each customer.

You don't need to sift through disparate dashboards.

You don't need to write complex queries.

MX shows what matters so your teams can see who to reach,

what to say, and when to say it.

It's fast, it's focused, and it drives real impact.

That's how you grow. That's data into action.

And this is how it all comes to life.

Taylor watching the data, spotting trends

and turning it into something real.

Dani getting her first job, Leo moving

and building his financial life

and Monica, preparing for retirement.

These aren't rare moments.

They're happening every day in your branches,

in your apps, and in your data.

And in each one there's a chance to take action

to help someone feel seen, to build trust, and to grow.

Because that's what data into action is really about.

Not just better insights or cleaner dashboards,

but real momentum. Growth

you can measure and impact you can feel.

And we have the results to prove it.

Global Credit Union saw a 40 times surge in deposit switches

after implementing MX’s deposit switch

experience. At another bank,

engaged mobile users opened accounts 13 times

more often than unengaged users.

Another institution saw those same engaged users grow

their deposit account balances eight times faster.

And OneUnited Bank drove a 34% increase in product

engagement just by helping people better see

and understand their finances.

This is how growth happens moment by moment,

person by person.

When you can see what's changing in someone's life,

understand what it means

and respond in the moment,

that's when you unlock growth that lasts.

That's what we're helping you build

and we're just getting started.

Thank you so much. And with

that, I'll hand it back to Crystal.

Thank you Nico and Billy.

What we just shared isn't just a roadmap, it's a commitment

to help you connect with customers in the moments

that matter to support their financial growth

and drive the kind of growth that lasts.

Because that's what data into action is all about.

Not just cleaner data or smarter insights,

but real outcomes. Outcomes

for your business, outcomes for your customers.

And to talk more about where we're headed

and how we bring this vision to life,

please join me in welcoming MX’s founder

and CEO Ryan Caldwell.

It's great. Yes, it's great to be here.

Well, you founded this company 14 years ago.

I love that. Yeah. Uh,

and the mission has always been to empower the world

to be financially strong and our vision:

finances that they should be.

What does it mean to you to see this coming to life

and to see us driving real results for clients?

Yeah. Well, first of all, I just think, Nico

and Billy, you did such a good job,

summarizing what we're trying to do.

And, it hasn't changed.

It hasn't changed since the beginning.

remember, you know, the vision

of finances as they should be.

It was baffling to me thinking

that finances weren't easy to understand.

The whole idea that you'd have to look at a bank account

statement over here and over here, try to merge it together

to think about how you were doing,

where you’re on track, where you’re off track.

It's crazy.

And the fact that you would see at

that time all these other areas in your life

that could give you immediate data,

but the financial industry, as well

as the medical industry, couldn't do

that in a very productive way.

And to me, thinking that it couldn't even give you an idea

of where you currently sat,

but it couldn't tell you where you were heading

and then it couldn't tell you how to get there.

This was something that was so baffling to me

and something that I was like, look, this is something

that we could not just solve,

but we could solve it for not just the richest among us,

but most importantly, those that needed the most.

And so that we could provide this upward mobility.

And that's something that we started the entire company on.

The vision was based off of that.

And we knew that to do that, we're going have do those four

things like you saw on the screen: connecting

to the data we had to be able to enhance that data, be able

to do analytics on it,

and then create engaging experiences

that would give us an opportunity to drive a consumer

to action and help that financial institution,

that fintech be stronger. Yeah.

Can you talk to us a bit about

how we're driving those results

and the results we're seeing with clients?

Yes. I mean, for me, one of the things

that's really important here is,

and I say this with a positive energy,

not a negative energy, but this tsunami wave is coming.

We've been talking about it for a while. But, just

because it's been talked about for a while,

doesn't mean it is about to truly hit shore.

And the best, most scaled technology companies,

not just the little niche

and nuanced fintech companies, they are going

to enter banking at a rate that will be dizzying.

I'm talking to Apples of the world, truly entering it,

the X.coms of the world truly entering it,

the Square, Cash App.

and those. As they come in, they are going to have ways

of engaging with users in such intelligent ways

that if you're not prepared for that, which is

what we feel like is a big part of our job — is to be able

to connect to that data and

to help prepare you for that wave.

So that preparation isn't about,

it's about the philosophical.

There's a lot of great talks today that,

necessarily so, talked about a lot of the philosophical,

I think that's a really critical component here.

But if we don't pair that with specific action,

and that is part of what we have

to be laser focused on at MX: is

how do I drive more deposits for this financial institution?

How do I drive better loan volume? more loan volume

with lower default rates at that exact right magical time

that's really what the consumer needed

that made their life better

and also helps make you financially stronger

as a financial institution?

And how do we put that in a comprehensive plan

that does everything from switching card on file

to drive interchange at the right moments

and optimize what you need to do?

If we don't do the specifics, the actual action,

if we don't do that well, then all

the philosophy doesn't matter.

Yeah.

Well, we have time for one more question.

Really it's just

what do you wanna leave the group with?

The biggest thing is this is a really exciting time.

You have to build things in a very specific order.

We had to build connecting to the data

before we could meaningfully enhance it.

Then we had to meaningfully enhance it

before we could really do any kind

of great experiences or engaging experiences.

And we had to do all three of these steps

before we could start driving action.

So it's beautiful to see this culminate to this point

of actually seeing deposits shift, seeing loan volume move,

and seeing how it's changing at rates

that the industry has never seen before.

That's incredibly exciting.

But the most important thing that I always

want us all focused on is the importance of the work.

These are people's financial lives.

Everything in life that's intangible

and that's the most important things is underwritten.

It sits on top of the foundation of your financial life,

including your healthcare, what you can

or can't afford, what you can or can't do,

ability to spend time with your family, ability to take

that job that you know you need to switch to,

but you just are a little bit nervous

of your month to month income.

Everything in the world that really matters to us

is underpinned by these financial things and money.

They say it doesn't matter.

It doesn't matter of its own thing.

You shouldn't seek after it for itself.

But it underpins these things. And if we can do a better job

helping these great financial institutions really be able

to embody the nobility in banking

where they can help consumers become stronger

and have upward mobility, it's some

of the most important work that we can be working on.

And I'm really proud to be able to do that.

I'm proud of this incredible team

and I'm proud to partner with a lot

of you on helping your consumers live

their best financial lives.

Well, thank you. I think on behalf of all of us, thank you

for being a bit of a pioneer in this space.

One of the things I've always loved about your leadership is

your commitment to excellence,

but also really, truly delivering for the end user,

delivering on financial wellness.

It's why I came here, and delivering for our partners.

So thank you. Well, thank you

and thank you all for being here today.

Thank you.
